 In the last three years, Ruth has featured Musical Soundtracks as the basis of her dance productions.  Most Recently, In the Spring of 2009, The Students danced to the broadway musical "MAMMA MIA".  In 2008, they danced to "The Phantom of the Opera", and in 2007, they danced excerpts from "The Lion King". Between 2002-2004, Ruth choreographed several productions for the Youngstown Playhouse, including Can Can, Idora Park, Mame and Cinderella.

She is also the former choreographer for East Palestine,Boardman, Liberty, New Springfield and Wilson High School Dance Lines. Ruth was the choreographer for the Struthers High School Show Choir from 1991-1993. The group took first place in the Northeastern Ohio Regional Competition. In addition, Ruth choreographed and performed several pieces for the Dana School of Music concert series, as well as having taught modern dance to many YSU students while pursuing her degree.

Ruth is a certified Step Aerobics Instructor through The American Aerobic Association, and the International Sports Medicine Association. She is also certified through NETA (National Exercise Trainers Association).

About Ruth Balestra
Ruth's interest in dance began when she attended her first dance lesson at the age of 10. While pursuing her Bachelor of Fine and Performing Arts degree at Youngstown State University, Ruth worked on refining and really developing her Ballet technique skills. She toured extensively with and served as President of the YSU Dance Ensemble. In addition, she was a member of the YSU Dance Line and performed in numerous dance productions. At Kent State University, she studied the Horton and Lamon' Modern techniques, both at the professional level. In April of 2009, Ruth and her ballet students went to New York City, to participate in a master class with Finis Jhung, a former legendary principal dancer with "The Joffrey" and "Sanfrancisco Ballet" Company's.

In December of 2007, Ruth was chosen to be the Local Dance Coordintor for "The Great Russian Nutcracker" performed by the Moscow Ballet. In January of 2007, the dance students of Ruths Robics and Dance CO. were accepted to dance at Disney World through the "Disney Magic Music Days" program at Magic Kingdom.


On Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, Peter Sklar, New York City  Talent Scout, and Broadway Producer,  visited Ruth’s Robics and Dance Company, in Boardman,  to give a lecture to students interested in the Fine and Performing Arts.  After a series of interviews with students, the following students were chosen by Mr. Sklar,  to participate in The Beginnings workshops held in London and New York this coming

Beginnings  workshops are designed to teach kids acting, singing, dancing, and whole other array of  classes, to help kids develop their true potential in the performing arts. Students who were invited to go to New York,  will work with professional cast members from Broadways most renowned  musicals and films this Summer.
